What this is

BodyShopAtlas is a free directory of body shops in the United States, organised by state and city. Every listing has an address; most have a phone number, and where a business publishes its hours or services we show those too. Listings come from open data and from the businesses themselves, who can correct their card at any time — about the directory. Nothing on the lists is paid placement.

Pick a state above, or use the “near me” button to jump to the body shops closest to you. City pages show the full list with a map; state pages collect smaller towns that have a single body shop.

Popular cities

After an accident you can choose your own body shop — your insurer may suggest one from its network, but in most states it can’t require it. Get a written estimate, ask whether the shop uses OEM or aftermarket parts, and ask about the warranty: many collision shops guarantee their work for as long as you own the car.

Common questions

Do I have to use the body shop my insurance company recommends?

No. Insurers may recommend shops from their direct-repair network, but in most states you have the right to choose your own shop, and the insurer pays the reasonable cost of the repair either way.

How long does collision repair take?

Minor repairs can take a few days; major damage often takes one to three weeks, longer if parts are back-ordered or the insurer has to approve a supplement.

What is the difference between OEM and aftermarket parts?

OEM parts are made by or for the carmaker; aftermarket parts are made by other companies and usually cost less. Some policies pay only for aftermarket parts unless you cover the difference, so ask your shop and insurer before repairs start.

Do body shops give free estimates?

Most do. Bring your claim number if you have one; many shops can also start an estimate from photos.
